If You Have Wings, Use 'Em
Oct. 29, 2009
di Cosimo's Perseus Freeing Andromeda
If God offered me wings to fly,
I'd decline and he'll ask why,
"Give me a good pair of legs 'stead", is what I'll say.
"I'll run the hell out of it night and day."
For what would I do with appendages in the air,
When I can do much with these limbs, strong and fair?
I'll make runners cry in defeat and shame,
I'll make footballers cringe and weep declaim.
I'd run mountains cruel and tough,
Humble them paltry; a passing laughter give them enough.
Lord most of all give them to me so I can walk the walk,
Be a noble person that does not just talk the talk.
With these legs, O Father, I'll be free,
For running is the only life for me.
