For winter and sleepless nights, to you.
On Cold Nights and Early Mornings
Nov 16, 2009
On bitter cold of the dark I fumble to sleep,
I dream of fire raging deep,
Of copper beds and burning wood’s crackling heaps,
Of warm embraces and the love goddess’ heat.
On the small moments of the morning when I lay,
For serenity to longing I do pray.
Of sleep’s relief till morrow’s stay,
Of sweet caresses and Orpheus’ plays.
Shut my eyes, shut my eyes.
O lord of sleep hear my demise.
Give me sanctuary from my lies,
Refuge in dreams from darkened skies.
